How much should I bet?
Even the best bettors lose often. What keeps them in the game is how much they risk on each bet.
Set a bankroll
Decide on an amount you are comfortable losing completely. That is your bankroll. It should never be money for rent, bills or savings.
Use units
A unit is a fixed percentage of your bankroll, commonly 1% to 2%. On a $500 bankroll, a 1% unit is $5. Most bets are one unit. Bets you like more might be two. Very few should be more.
Never chase
Raising your stake to win back a loss is how small losses become big ones. Stick to your units.
Know when to stop
Set a daily or weekly limit before you start. If you hit it, you are done. If betting stops being fun, take a break.
