Betting terms explained
Moneyline
A bet on who wins the game, with no point spread.
Point spread
A handicap that evens out a mismatch. A -6.5 favorite must win by 7 or more. A +6.5 underdog can lose by 6 or fewer and still cover.
Over/under (total)
A bet on whether the combined score lands above or below a number set by the sportsbook.
Juice (vig)
The sportsbook's commission built into the odds. It is why a fair coin-flip bet pays -110 instead of even money.
Unit
A standard bet size, usually a small percentage of your bankroll.
Push
A tie against the line. Your stake is returned.
